Yoga and Vegan Food Night Recipe




ADSY'S DAHL WITH CORIANDER AND CHICK PEAS



half packet yellow split peas
half packet red lentils
300g chick peas
(cover with cold water in a bowl and soak overnight in fridge for 24 hours)

2 brown onions
1 bulb garlic
half knob of ginger
(finely chopped and sweat off in a heavy based pot.. in veg, sunflower or canola oil)

garam marsala
tumeric
cardamon
carroway seeds
cinnamon
cloves
coriander seeds

(grind up dry ingredients in mortar and pestle)

fresh red chillis ( As mild or as hot as you like?)
coriander roots
(add to mortar and pestle and grind into dry ingredients to make your curry paste.. them add to heavy pot with onions etc etc…. )

(drain chick peas, lentils etc… wash once more.. drain.. add to pot..)

2-3 litres vegetable stock
(add STOCK to pot) season with sea salt and fresh ground black pepper… bring to boil, then turn down a little to a med heat…

COOK UNTIL LENTILS AND CHICK PEAS SOFTEN… REMEMBER TO STIR REGUARLY.. SO AS NOT TO STICK.

700ml or 1 litre? Whatever you like.. ? of coconut milk or coconut cream.
(when lentils are soft.. add coconut cream to pot..)


serve with fresh coriander leaves and stems..
